Within 80 days a total of 1500 old PVC windows have been replaced with new, heat-insulating ones in Freiburg, Germany.

Additionally, 180 front doors have been replaced. Building owner and project leader explained that they expect a decrease of 20000 kilos of emissions each year once the works are completed.




On 16th March an innovation workshop entitled Opportunities in R&D projects for Building and Construction Products and Solutions was organised by EuPC and ECP4. 40 participants from the plastics construction sector gained an insight into R&D centres and their expertise.


In Norderstedt, adjoining Hamburg, the kick-off for the energy recovery renovation of 368 apartments in the Waldstraße-quarter took place. During this project 2.500 old PVC windows in seven housing block will be replaced with new ones until 2015. The old PVC windows will be recycled mechanically and subsequently become part of new windows.
